september 6th, 2013 - 05:00pmyou should know me by now And I thought you'd feel the same as me. It's time that I come clean, but; But, for now can we just both pretend to sleep? Sometimes the one you want is not the one you need. What goes around don't come around. You should know me by now. [/style][style= width: 402px; height: 200px; background: url(http://i47.tinypic.com/2eg68g2.jpg);] [/style][style= width:402px; height: 390px; background-color: #ffffff;] [style=width: 300px; font-family: arial narrow; font-size:10px; line-height:91%; text-align:justify; overflow: auto; margin-bottom: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px; height: 320px; padding-top: 5px; margin-right: 5px;margin-top: 10px; color: #000000; background-color: #fff;]
Alaric was ready to go home. He was tired, partially from having not sleeping so well the previous few weeks. He had been working a lot on music, though; so, that was a plus. A.J. had been a pretty permanent fixture at his home at least once a week. The two of them would sit up, working on different artistic projects while talking and consuming vast amounts of coffee. He was not sure what had kicked up the younger man's insomnia, but that was not anything they ever discussed. There were things that neither of them would talk about, but the good thing was that at least they knew there was someone there who would listen should they need it. Ric had met A.J. teaching a few classes at the other man's college and since then, they've been friends. Alaric was glad that A.J. was there under Nykki's supervision because if anyone could help the kid get the training he needed to get licensed, it would be her. Having Nykki at the school was great because there were things that he could talk to her about that he would never talk to A.J. about, despite the couple of times they've had no-judgement talks over Chinese takeout and bad movies. He'd played at a single open mic night since the beginning of August, because he had not had the time for any more. However, things were usually rather slow in September, so maybe he would find more time to do just that.
His second date with Salizar had gone better than he had anticipated, and honestly, Ric hoped they could find the time to go out again sometime. Toward the end of the night, he had finally kissed the other man, the thought of which had Alaric smiling slightly to himself as he gathered his things to head home for the weekend. The man ran a hand through his newly re-dyed hair (changed to mostly blue with a little bit of bleached blond), and then shut his office door, locking it behind him. Alaric was almost out to his car, making a mental note to bug Elijah that weekend, when he ran right into someone due to the practically non-existent amount of attention he was paying to his surroundings. "Oh, shit, sorry," he stated, gathering his bearings enough that he did not fall over or something, though his look of concern quickly changed into a smile when he saw that the person he had run into was Salizar. "Hey, Zar! Heading home for the night?" Ric flicked his hair back out of his eyes as he smiled, glad to see the other man again. Their busy schedules did not allow for them to see each other as often as Alaric would have liked, a fact which did not concern him as much as it probably should have. "Y'know, I was just getting ready to head home. I've actually got stuff and time to make dinner tonight instead of getting take out. You should join me if you're not busy." It was a spur of the moment decision to invite Salizar over, and Ric was not even sure if the other man had plans or anything. He felt like at least putting the offer out there since it had come to mind in the first place. The worst that could happen would be that the guy said 'no'.

Salizar asked Laura, who was the new doctor that St. Helena's had hired to help him in the infirmary. He hadn't left her alone for an overnight on-call duty since she'd been there, but Abigail was insisting that since he now had help, he didn't need to constantly be on call. And so his pager had been kidnapped by miss Abigail, and so was his phone. He felt odd leaving the infirmary in the explicit care of someone else, even for a few hours. He'd only been there for two months, but already he'd become quite aclimated to it. It was like his second home that was more a home to him than the manor.
But Laura assured him that she had things well taken care of, and so he had no reason to stay. He offered her a smile, though it may have come off as just a tad bit forced, though never-the-less, he found himself gathering up his jacket and heading for the door. And this time he was not taking home a stack of files and papers to go over. He winced as he glanced at his stack of paperwork he should have been doing, though knew Abigail would pitch a bitch if she knew he'd taken work home today. He sighed, exiting the infirmary and moving outside. What was he to do that night then. Go home to that large and empty manor? He didn't much like staying there by himself. It got to quiet, but with just him, there was no need to keep a full staff on the payroll. Especially when he was hardly ever there.
Salizar could definitely think of things he'd rather be doing than going to an empty mansion. He smiled slightly at the memory of his past two dates with Alaric. They'd gone better than he could ever hope, he'd never had two consecutive good dates. The second date had been made all the better for Alaric's kiss. The first kiss was always the best, right? One never forgot their first kiss with someone. He smiled again at the thought. Yes, he'd much rather he had plans with Alaric tonight. He hadn't known Abigail was going to kidnap his things though. But it would be nice to have dinner with Alaric without his pager going off, or his cell phone, which had happened both dates with one of the students he counseled wanting help with something.
Maybe that was a contributing factor to Abigail's crime of passion. He walked across the parking lot, lost in his own thoughts when someone bumped into him. Taking a step back hurriedly, he reached out slightly to stablize the other person before he heard the voice and his mood lifted considerably. "Well, good evening, Alaric," he stated, smiling at the other male. He nodded at the other's question regarding his destination. "Yeah, I'm afraid Abigail insisted upon it. Seems to think that I haven't had a night off since I started working here, so she kidnapped my phone, my pager, forbid me from doing paperwork and ordered me home." He gave a soft laugh at the thought before Alaric was speaking again.
He tilted his head slightly, watching the other male for a moment. Did Alaric just ask him to dinner at his place? That's what it sounded like. Salizar smiled slightly. "No, actually... thanks to Abigail I'm extremely not busy," he said easily. "I'd be delighted to have dinner with you tonight, especially if I get to sample your cooking..." Another smile was offered to the other male. Now.. did Salizar make assumptions and ask to ride with Alaric, or should he take his own car and merely follow him? Probably best to follow him, right? That way, it wouldn't seem as if he were trying to push things with the two of them. And if Alaric asked him to stay the night, then it wouldn't matter that both of their cars were present or not, right?
Salizar watched the other before gesturing towards his own car. "I'm afraid, however, that I do not know the way to your house. So I'll probably just have to follow you there, is that suitable?" he asked, watching the other male for any sign that Alaric may not want his car there... maybe Alaric had nosy neighbors who would start spreading gossip if another car was at his house all night long. He didn't want to put Alaric in any kind of situation to make him feel uncomfortable, after all... | [atrb=style, font-family: Tahoma; word-spacing: 1px; text-align: center; background-color: #000000; border: 2px solid #939393; color: ; padding: 10px; opacity: 0.5]TAGGED: ric || WORD: 784 || OUTFIT: clicky

"Yeah," he said with a fond smile, "That does sound like her." She was one of the people that helped make sure that he did not over-work himself, and honestly, there probably would have been many times he would have stressed himself into the hospital if it were not for her. "I've only done something like that once; but, it was me and A.J. who did it on the same night in hopes that we would both finally get some real sleep." Ric, himself, had slept well that evening; but, he was not sure about A.J. The kid had been the same, happy person he always was the following morning. Ric had a hard time reading him, figuring out what was going on. It was annoying sometimes because he felt slightly responsible for the kid, having been one of his teachers at the college before A.J. started working at St. Helena's. Alaric smiled when Salizar said that he would come over. Ric had actually been a little worried that the other man would not want to, and even though being told 'no' was about the worst thing he could see Salizar doing, that in itself was bad enough. "It's not anything too amazing, but 'm a pretty good cook." When he wanted to be, anyway. Unless he was actually in the mood to cook, he often ended up distracted half-way through and ended up burning the food. Take out was always the go-to when that happened, generally Chinese, because that was the only thing that would deliver out to him. "Oh, yeah, that's fine. It's not too hard to find my place. You just head out toward the beach and it's the first left just before the beach turn," he explained with a nod, just in case they got separated a bit. "C'mon, let's head out."
Alaric smiled at Salizar before heading to his own car, and he waited for the other man at the exit of the parking lot before starting the drive to his place. He did not have any neighbors, so nosy neighbors was never a worry. Even if he did have neighbors that could not mind their own business, Alaric would not have cared. They could say whatever they wanted to say. Ric was not assuming that Zar would end up staying overnight, but he would not have a problem if that were to happen. Ric hummed along to the radio as he drove and tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. It did not take too long for them to get to the house and Ric waited at the front porch steps for Salizar to get out of his own car. "Think you could find it again without a lead?" he questioned with a smile, going up to the door so that he could open it and let them both in, turning on the light as he stepped inside. He waited until Salizar was inside to shut the door, glancing toward the living room to see if Tux was still asleep on the couch. Ric rolled his eyes when he saw that the cat was in the same spot, but curled up in the opposite direction from when he had left. Lazy bum. "D'you want something to drink while I get started on this? You could help me throw together a salad, too, if you want. Or go bug my cat. He needs motivation to move." Ric laughed softly and smiled as he pushed the sleeves of his shirt up past his elbows, loosening his tie quite a bit in order to get more comfortable.

"Indeed. She's a whirlwind, alright. And when she gets her mind set on something, it takes a man stronger than I to change it." He certainly had trouble telling her no. As exemplified by the fact that she seemed determined to change what he wore, which was the reason for his state of undress that day. He only hoped that Alaric didn't think less of him for being improperly dressed. He hadn't said anything about it yet though, so he probably wouldn't. There was that at least. He smiled when Ric stated that he and AJ had done something similar so they could get some rest. "Yes, instead of constantly checking your phone or pager for a missed call that doesn't exist...?" He nodded slightly.
Of course, when the other said his cooking was pretty good, he chuckled. "I don't know, Abigail says you could better than just 'pretty good'. When we were in college, she kept saying she wished you were there to cook her dinner because she was tired of takeout and cafeteria food." Abigail had spoken of Alaric a lot, which was likely part of why he'd agreed to go out with the other male whenever she had tried to set them up. And he certainly had not disappointed Salizar so far. So when Ric gave him directions to his house, he nodded, smiling slightly at the other, commiting the directions to memory just in case they did get separated, and so after that, he moved to his car. Setting his jacket in the seat beside him, he pulled out after Alaric.
Thankfully, they did not get separated, though on the way there, Salizar couldn't help but wonder if perhaps Nykki had done this intentionally. The way that he was dressed that day, taking his pager and phone... had she intended him to run in to Ric that evening when she gave him the time he should leave? She'd told him he had to be out of there by five. He wouldn't put it past her. She was a conkniving young woman who delighted in making plots and carrying them out. She probably had planned for something like this to happen, he was sure. By the time he reached Alaric's house, he was almost positive that Abigail had a hand in all of this somehow. Was Alaric in on it as well? It was entirely possible.
As he got out of his car, he headed up the stairs, smiling at the other. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure I could find it again," he replied. Was that an invitation? He rather hoped so. He would like to be invited to Alaric's house more often. So when the other male opened the door, he let his eyes roam around. "It is very beautiful out here, I wish I had beach-front property," he stated, chuckling softly before moving into the house. Wow. It was very white. He blinked a moment to let his eyes adjust and looked around slowly. Very white. He slowly followed the other male further in, closing the door behind him. "... Alaric... how do you keep this place clean?" Everyone knew that white just attracted dirt.
He looked over at the other as he asked about drinks and gave a slight nod. "Please... any kind of soda is fine..." he said absently, still looking around. He moved after him to the kitchen and began to push up his own sleeves. "I'll help in any way that I can. Perhaps I'll make the salad and then motivate your cat into motion," he said with faint amusement. "What all do you like in your salad and... where can I find said things to make salad with?" he asked, looking at the other. "And god willing... I won't burn it." He smiled again at that. | [atrb=style, font-family: Tahoma; word-spacing: 1px; text-align: center; background-color: #000000; border: 2px solid #939393; color: ; padding: 10px; opacity: 0.5]TAGGED: ric || WORD: 692 || OUTFIT: clicky

It was most definitely an allusion to an invitation. They were not quite to the stage where Ric would be comfortable with Salizar just showing up whenever, but Alaric definitely would not mind having the other man visit more often. He nodded in agreement at the other man's statement about how beautiful it was out there. That was part of the reason that Ric loved it so much. It was relaxing and open and very inspirational. Alaric could not think of a better place to live. The choir teacher chuckled when Salizar pointed out that there was a lot of white. "It catches the sun easier and makes the light in the room last longer. It's nice," he nodded a little with his explanation before flicking his hair back out of his eyes as he looked over to Salizar. "Well... I pick up after myself, make sure things go where they should... plus, I mean... 've got to do something when I can't sleep, so cleaning is always a good option." There were many times in which Alaric could not sleep, but he did not have the creative inspiration to work on music or something. It gave him a chance to make sure the house stayed clean. He nodded with a smile and grabbed a soda to hand to Salizar, grabbing a Coke Zero for himself. He took a drink out of the bottle and set it aside before smiling when Salizar agreed to help with the salad. "Stuff for salads is in the bottom left compartment in the fridge. It's my house, so... anything in there is what I'd like. Take your pick." He shrugged a little with a soft laugh. It was quite true, though. It was his home, so asking what he liked in salad was a rather moot point. He was not going to have something he didn't like in the fridge. "Also, good luck with Tux. He's just an old, lazy cat."
It took a moment for Alaric to realize what Salizar's last statement was he he laughed with a shake of his head. "If you somehow manage to burn that, you've got some seriously bad luck," he stated through a laugh and another shake of his head as he untied his tie completely, letting it hang loosely instead of catching on his shirt button like it was doing while he started to work on making dinner. "Shouldn't take too long. If you get bored with that you can go put something on the TV or something." Alaric nodded with a smile over at Salizar, and then he began to focus on what he was doing once again.
