General Description: A lot of people might consider the boy's style "scene", but he doesn't put a label to it. He likes bright, funky colors and experimenting with looks. Layers are his friends, and he likes accessories. The shorter boy is rather fond of changing his hair color every few months or so, never sticking to one for very long. He lives for Converse, very rarely wearing any other kind of shoe. After all, they are the best. Sometimes he'll wear a little eyeliner, but not all the time, just when he's feeling up to the effort. Though it sometimes looks like he might've spent ages planning a look, he most often just throws on the first thing he can find.[/blockquote]

General Description: Kaelan is a rather soft-spoken individual who doesn't spend too much time with others. He'd rather be alone, though he'd never tell people that he doesn't really like to be alone. He just prefers it because it keeps people from bugging him and makes it easier to work. He's very studious, trying to keep at the top of his class so he can graduate with honors, possibly as the valedictorian. The boy is sweet and caring, but not too many people know that since he does tend to keep to himself. Despite his general quiteness and distance, he's too kind of a boy to just ignore someone if they try to talk to him or seem like they need someone to talk to. He's not always the first one to approach someone new, but there's times, when he feels the person might really need it, in which he will. He's got a rather short attention span and is terrible with numbers, and names. That is part of the reason he tries to give his actual friends nicknames that he can remember. While he's generally soft spoken, that's only until he really has something to say that he feels needs to be reinforced so his point gets across. He's not one to speak unless he thinks it is something worth saying, anyway.
He's known to go through both manic and depressive states with his bipolar disorder, and though he knows he has it, he refuses to take the suggested medications. He doesn't believe in taking pills, won't even take pain pills unless he's in a manic state, and outright refuses to take his prescribed medications. This is also why the boy sometimes prefers to just be alone, so no one has to deal with his absurdities when he is in these states.[/blockquote]

History: Kaelan is the baby of his family, and wasn't all that close to his older sister until after she moved out. Since then, they have made sure to talk at least once a week, and Kae spent some time babysitting his nephew before he was sent away. The boy has always been smart and quiet, something that he's been told he gets from his grandfather. As he got older, though, he started to withdraw from people as he saw how horrible they tended to be to each other. He didn't want to get picked on, so he figured avoiding others would be a good thing to do. Plus, there was the fact he just found it difficult to talk to some people. He was a nice kid, just not very social.
His parents noticed little things as he got older that had them a bit worried, and it wasn't just the way he withdrew from people. It was the way his moods would shift and change and how he'd get stuck in these patterns with them. It was unsettling to say the least. It was when the boy was a freshman that he had a manic episode that caused him to lash out at one of his peers while he was being teased and ridiculed for the way he dressed. Kae didn't even really remember what happened when he came back from it. After a few tests and conversations with a therapist, Kaelan was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which meant he'd be requested to go to therapy sessions when he needed them and to take medication. Kaelan didn't take medication. He'd always refused it from the time he was old enough that his parents felt he could make the call himself. The only time it changed when was when he was either in a manic episode, or he was so ill that he didn't have a choice. His parents grew increasingly worried, though, as his depressive and manic states grew a bit more severe as time went on, to the point that they were almost scared for their son. They didn't know what to do to help him, especially considering the British family had only moved to the States in Kaelan's sophomore year so that his mother could pursue a job opportunity. It was in that year, though, that the therapist that worked with Kae suggested sending him to a school that dealt with those kinds of issues, St. Helena's. Kaelan was reluctant, not wanting to go to a school where they'd probably all but shove the pills down his throat. He didn't want to take them. Either way, half way through his sophomore year, he found himself entering the halls of St. Helena's. What fun this would be.[/blockquote]
