danger in the shape of somethin' wild stranger dressed in black, she's a hungry child tagged: ric || words: 560 || outfit: clickylyrics: hot child in the city by nick gilder "Really? I've got the job?!" Nykki couldn't have been happier. When her friend Salizar had told her St. Helena's needed lab technician, she had not really let her hopes get up to much. But of course, having been to St. Helena's before probably helped her case. Having been a student there, she knew what the kids would be going through, she knew how to handle them, at least, better than most people who would apply for the job would. She also hadn't told her other very bestest friend in all the world that she was there for a job interview. She didn't want him to be crushed if she didn't get the job. She had been surprised when Salizar had told her he hadn't met her friend Ric yet though.
But then Salizar rarely left the hospital wing and she knew Ric didn't much go there unless he had no choice. It made sense, Zar had only been there for about a week. But as Nykki headed out of the office from speaking with the administrative authority over teachers and counselors, she could hardly believe her luck. A lab technician and a counselor. How had this come about? She was counseling in what she herself had. She pulled her phone from her bra and immidiately flipped it open, finding Ric in her contacts and sent him a message, grinning slightly as she hit the send button. She walked down familiar halls, heading towards where she was sure Ric's office would be. She chuckled as Ric's ringtone answered her back immidiately. Good, it meant he wasn't in class. She unlocked her screen to read the message.
She giggled at the message, already sensing Ric's excitement even through the text messaging. Sending him another message quickly, she paused in the hallway, waiting for his next message. Oh yes, IHOP. She needed coffee. Sending another message to the male on the other line. By this time, she'd started walking again and stopped in front of an office door. She grinned as she sent her next message to his reply and then closed her phone, sliding it into her bra once more, knowing that she wasn't going to get another message from him on the phone. She giggled as she heard a chair scrap in the office and footsteps racing towards the door.
She threw her hands out to the side instantly, welcoming Ric into her arms and wrapping her arms tightly around him as well. She squeaked a little in her excitement as she hugged him tightly. "Ooh, Ricy-Roo! I've missed you so much!" she exclaimed, pulling away though not releasing the other male, grinning broadly, her hands gripping his shoulders. "You haven't changed a bit, how do you stay so gorgeous?!" she demanded, leaning in to kiss his cheek and hugged him again. "Ugh, I just couldn't pass through town without stopping to see you... Of course... looks like I might be staying a little longer than I thought..." she stated, grinning slightly. "Guess who just got the job as St. Helena's new lab technician?" she asked before pointing at herself. "This girl, right here... we need to go celebrate, Ricy! It's gonna be just like old times!"

He showed up early, armed with enough sodas to get him through the day, and began to go through his students' files that he would be seeing that day between his classes. He had to think of some bullshit assignments to give his classes because the state mandated so many written assignments a year; which, he thought was ridiculous. He taught singing and piano, for crying out loud! It was stupid to require them to turn in anything; but, that was not his choice to make. It was not something that was worth losing his teaching license over. At that moment, he was done with his classes for the day and he had just seen the last student he was scheduled to meet with. That did not mean that someone would not stop by. Alaric was never one to turn away a student if they needed his help or even just to talk, especially if he was not doing anything else. He was in the middle of working on lesson plans for the next week when his cell phone played a very familiar ring tone that made him smile and immediately drop his hot pink pen. Abigail was one of his best friends ever, and he loved to hear from her. Of course, the text that he read made Alaric do a slight flail in his seat before actually responding. Miss Abby was in town. He would get to see his best friend again! Alaric could not wait. This was the girl he loved as much as if she was his sister. They had been through a lot together, and Ric enjoyed having her around. He had missed her a lot more than he realized and was practically bouncing in his seat at the idea of getting to meet up with her. Of course, his excitement only rose when she admitted that she was outside his office. Alaric dropped his phone aside and quickly pushed himself away from his desk so that he could all but fly out the door of his office and wrap his arms around her in a hug, practically lifting her off her feet for a moment. "Abby!" he exclaimed with a bright smile as he pulled away to look at her. "You've no idea how good it is to see you."
"Pft, the same way you do, lovely. The sacrifice of innocent caffeine children," replied Alaric with a nod and a grin. Honestly, he did not think that his excitement could get any greater than it was; but, then, Abby had to go and tell him the news, which practically made him flail once again. "Oh, my god! No way. Holy crap. They're going to regret this. This is going to be awesome!" Having Abby at the school with him made everything a lot easier to handle, he would be totally honest. As much as he enjoyed the chance to get to help other teens in the way he was helped, it was still difficult sometimes. Sometimes, more than others, it almost made him want to fall back to old ways. Abby being there would make it that much easier for him to not. She would make sure that he never spent too much time locked away in his house alone with nothing but his thoughts. "Yes, a celebration, at IHOP. Let me grab my stuff, then we can go." Alaric darted back into the office to grab his favorite black and grey striped hoodie to tug on, his keys, and his phone before leaving the office, locking the door behind him. "My car's in the staff parking lot, c'mon. Time to save you from possible caffeine withdrawal, my leading lady." Alaric made a grand gesture toward the doors before holding his arm out toward Abby to take so that he could lead her out to the car. He could not keep from smiling and found that having his best friend there really did make everything that much better.

danger in the shape of somethin' wild stranger dressed in black, she's a hungry child tagged: ric || words: 502 || outfit: clickylyrics: hot child in the city by nick gilder Nykki grinned as Ric practically lifted her up off of the ground, which was quite a feat because she was not exactly a small girl! She laughed, still grinning broadly as Ric stated that she had no idea how good it was to see her. "Oh I think I have an idea. I know I missed you at least as much, if not more than, you missed me," she nodded seriously, watching him carefully. He looked great, like her brother that she remembered. It was good that he hadn't relapsed any... she knew that even though she hadn't seen him for a while, she'd have known instantly if he'd been having a hard time. Gut instinct and all.
As he stated that he stayed young and beautiful the same way she did, she waved her hand dismissively. "Oh I don't do that kind of thing anymore, its so cliche, Ric. Tell me you're not still sacrificing caffeine children." She rolled her eyes, shaking her head dramatically. "No, no... the real secret to the fountain of youth?" She leaned forward slowly and whispered in a not-so-quiet voice. "Sacrificing my special homemade chocolate brownies." She nodded seriously before he was reacting to the news that she had gotten a job at the school. Her grin was back then, laughing as she placed a hand over her mouth.
"I know right? To bad Gibbs isn't here... would make everything just like it used to. But yeah, I'm the new Chemistry teacher, lab technician, and a counselor." She grinned, nodding as she allowed him to pull away to grab his things, though once he was out of the office and the door was locked, she looped her arm through his own, holding onto it as they walked. "Alrighty, then. Sounds like a plan. I need to get myself a car too, but until the weather gets bad, I can walk to work, its not all that far," she stated easily as they walked outside towards Ric's car. "But! I did get an apartment! Well... a friend of mine got the apartment for me. He seemed convinced that there was no way they could turn me down for this job, so he went ahead and set everything up for me. You should see it though, he got this decorator to come in and do the place... and its perfect."
She smiled as they reached his car and released him, allowing the other to unlock the doors and such. "After lunch, maybe we could swing by my place... I'm sure Spike would love to see you again," she stated eagerly as she got into the passenger side of the car and buckled up. "So tell me, Ricy... what have you been up to?"

Seriously, nobody knew him as well as his Abby did. The only other that could say more would probably be his guitar; but, Ric did not think that counted. He listened with abrupt attention as Abby went on to tell him what the real secret to eternal youth was. He gasped dramatically as he flicked his hair back out of his eyes and said, "I knew it. We should do this, soon. It is a necessity." Alaric nodded a few times with a serious expression before he broke into a grin again. It really was great to have someone around who not only understood but appreciated his humor. Most people just looked at him like he was an idiot. He laughed and nodded as she explained why she did not have a car yet, which made sense. Alaric, himself, lived too far out to not have a car. He lived out at the beach, which was a decent drive away. He had to leave pretty early in the mornings to be there early, as he was known to do.
"Alright," Alaric agreed with a nod and a smile, excited to be able to see the place that had Abby all happy. It had to be a good one then. "But, you have to come to mine soon, then." He nodded a little as he climbed into the car and smiled over at Abby. "Tux would love to lay all over your things again like the lazy little shit he is. Plus, I actually have a house! I'm renting, and it's out on the beach down the road, but I love it." The place was open enough that he had more than enough room to work on his music, and when the weather was nice he could open all the doors and windows and let a breeze in. It was really lovely there. Ric was glad that he had found it. It was a bit pricey but, worth it. He laughed as he turned in his seat to check over his shoulder while pulling the car out of the parking spot before beginning to drive to the IHOP, smiling a little at the question. "Well, world domination first off. It's a slow process, but I'm getting there. Beyond that, graduating and coming here to work. That's basically it." Alaric had not had much time for a social life since leaving high school. He had been focused more on his studies than anything; and, now that he was at St. Helena's, the time that was not devoted to sleeping or music was given to the school. Ric did not really have much time for anything else. "I've done a few open mic nights at one of the bars in town, but that's about it for social levels. Even then, I left right after." He lifted his shoulder in a shrug, flicking his hair back out of his eyes. Honestly, he did not see anything wrong with the way his life had been going. He was, for the most part, happy. "What about you? What's been going on in Abby-land?" Ric was glad to be able to hear first hand what all had been going on in his best friend's life. Sure, they kept in contact, so he probably knew the most important things; but, it was always better to hear the stuff face-to-face than via text or email. Plus, some of the things, Ric just wanted an excuse to tease her about by bringing them up again. After all, what were best friends for?

danger in the shape of somethin' wild stranger dressed in black, she's a hungry child tagged: ric || words: 502 || outfit: clickylyrics: hot child in the city by nick gilder Nykki grinned slightly as Ric stated that they had to sacrifice her brownies very soon. She nodded seriously. "Oh I totally agree with you on that. But maybe... just to be safe, we should also sacrifice innocent caffiene children at the same time." Better to be safe than sorry after all! Caffiene and brownies, there was absolutely nothing that could go wrong with that scenario... especially considering it was her and Ric. Who were both responsible adults who were both fully capable of performing such a serious ritualistic sacrifice from the confines of her apartment... or his beach house. The location didn't really matter for the sacrifice, so long as it was performed correctly.
Nykki clapped her hands in excitement as Ric stated he'd come to her place though and then described his own house. "Ooh, we'll have to go swimming sometime. Just the two of us... at night!" she exclaimed. "When its warmer..." she added as a bit of an afterthought. "It's a bit to cold for it now..." Not that it was really cold out, but certainly not warm enough to go diving into the ocean in a bathing suit. She looked back over at him and smiled slightly. "But your house sounds positively delightful." She nodded matter-of-factly at the statement and proceeded to look back out the front windshield as he spoke.
She laughed at his plot for world domination. "You can't go for world domination, I've already set my plan in motion. But I'll let you rule Europe if you want," she stated, grinning over at her best friend as they drove across the familiar town. "Well that's good that you're doing open mic nights, but you should stay after to see what people say about your music," she stated simply, tilting her head as she looked at her brother. "I mean... you're really good, Ricy... you should get something for it... like... regular gigs or something. That would be awesome. I'd go see you every night," she stated, nodding matter-of-factly, watching himf lick his hair from out of his eyes.
Though as he asked what had been going on in Abby-land, she snorted. "Nothing. As usual." She shook her head slightly, leaning back in her seat. "Well, as you probably can guess, Martin broke up with me. Told me that I was... 'to much'." She raised her hands to make the little air quotes before crossing her arms over her chest in a slightly huffy fashion. "So I kind of accidently on purpose spilled a mixture of butanethiol and butenyl methyl disulfide all over the seats of his car..." she stated easily, smiling over at Ric. "Which are the chemical compounds which make up skunk musk." Yes, she was positively diabolical. hot child in the city runnin' wild and lookin' pretty template by emrysdaelan @ caution 2.0keep credit or angry badgers will nom your face off |
