[cs=2][atrb=width,500] It was rather warm outside, but Arwen was on the colder side, as she usually was. So, she had worn a sweater over a tank top that would be against the dress code otherwise; but, half way through the day, she had ended up pushing the sleeves of her sweater up over her elbows. The scars on her arms were faint enough that she did not worry about anyone noticing them. Only someone who was looking close would see; and, she did not really open up to people enough for them to care enough to really look. Classes had been out for a few minutes, and most students had rushed out of the academic building; but, Arwen took her time gathering her things, getting to her locker and dropping off what she would not need before grabbing what she would need for homework. Then, she took her time walking out of the building, glad that the hallways were no longer crowded and noisy. It was difficult to navigate the halls at times, worrying she was going to bump into someone who would get mad at her, wondering if someone was going to try to pick on her. There were so many things that could go wrong in the halls, and Arwen really just wanted to avoid all of them. Sometimes, it was harder to portray the happy, smiling young woman that people thought she was when there were so many people around. The slight breeze moved the long strands of her brunette hair around and she tucked them behind her ears as she walked over to one of the benches there in the school's courtyard. Once she was seated, she pulled an elastic band out of her backpack and used it to tie the majority of her hair back out of her face. There were a few loose strands that refused to stay back that would fall into her eyes, but she was used to that. With her hair out of the way, Arwen pulled out her sketchbook and tugged up her legs so that she could cross them underneath herself, creating a makeshift table with her lap. She used her favorite charcoal pencil as she worked on her sketch, drawing the garden in her backyard at home from memory. She held the corner of the paper down with her left elbow, bending over the sketchbook as she toyed with her necklace with that hand, using the other to draw. Arwen sang softly under her breath as she worked, smiling slightly all the while until a shadow fell across her paper from someone standing nearby. Her brow furrowed a little and she flicked her hair out of her eyes as she lifted her head to see who was there. "D'you mind?" she said, clearing her throat a little. "You're kind of in my light." She hoped that she did not sound rude or anything; after all, she did not want to upset the wrong person. It was just difficult to work on details on a shaded paper. She needed the light to see easier. However, if the person decided to stick around, she may not get any more work done, anyway. Arwen was not sure she minded that thought. She did feel rather alone, and was never fond of that feeling. "Can I help you with something?" Arwen absentmindedly wet her lips as she let go of the necklace, letting it fall back into place. |
